Arterials

Portable and Permantent versions of BluFAX provide a cost-effective means of monitoring and collecting travel time and delay data on arterial roadways.

Evalutation of Signal Timing Changes

Bluetooth Traffic Monitoring (BTM) technology can be used to assess the impact of signal retiming along artierial routes. For one study,  BluFax was used to capture 2.5 days  of traffic data prior to implementing new signal timing plans. BTM then captured another 2 daysof traffic data in order to assess the before and after impact on corridor travel times.

BluFax units captured more than 200 samples both before and after the signal retiming along the route.  The increased quantity of data as compared to floating car runs provides the means to confidently estimate travel time savings, which in turn provides the means to confidently assess other benefits such as reduction of emissions and delay.  [More]

Traffic Monitoring of Interchanges and Intersections

Traffic monitoring of major interchanges using speed sensors is inefficient and cost prohibitive with conventional sensors due to the numerous turning movements and the possibility of queue buildup.  Bluetooth traffic monitoring (BTM) provides a cost effective and extremely efficient method to monitor all travel times through an interchange with as little as four sensors. By placing a Bluetooth sensor at each approach, every turning movement can be effectively and cost efficiently monitored.  Four units can be arrayed to provide information of all 12 turning movements. Traveltimes on Congested Roadways

BluFAX can be used to collect traveltime information on congested urban roadways.  Stop and go traffic is no problem for BluFAX.
