BluFaxWeb software provides a customizable web-based interface for real-time monitoring applications.   Traffax real-time solutions are available to customers for a service fee, or for a one-time, per unit site license; which allows the user to self-host the software.

Segments and Link Processing

Reporting and Archiving

Functional Details

Detection Data management

Listens and logs all information received from the BluFAX real-time units in order to be available for downstream processing.

  • BluFAX units are stored with an IP, port and descriptive name.
  • Each detection is stored in the database for a configurable number of days.
  • Each detection is stored in flat files for a configurable number of days.

Link Data Management

Processes data in the Detection Data management system into usable traffic information.

 

Segment Processing

  • Links are configured using a source detector and a destination detector.
  • Each link has a configurable free flow travel time.
  • Link traversals are stored in the system database for a configurable number of days.
  • The system uses a pluggable travel time calculation algorithm for each detection pair.

Traveltime Recording

  • Link data traveltimes are calculated once per configurable interval.
  • The system uses a pluggable traveltime calculation algorithm for the time interval.
  • Metrics reported include Travel Time, Speed, Number of Detection, Variance (or equivalent), Spread, Trending, and Delay (the difference between current travel time and free flow  travel time for the the link) and a confidence metric.
  • Calculated traveltimes are stored in the system database for a configurable number of days.
  • If the system has insufficient data to make a reasonable traveltime calculation it will use the free flow travel time for the link. In this case the other attributes of the traveltime are set to indicate that the traveltime reported was not calculated.

Data Interface

Delivers data to the client via a network connection.

  • The system provides a REST web services API to allow client applications to query the following types of data in XML format.
  • Configured BluFAX Units Configured Links.
  • Recent BluFAX unit detections (per BluFAX Unit).
  • Recent Link Traversals (per link).
  • Recent traveltime calculations (per link) and associated metrics.
  • Most recent traveltimes for all configured links.
  • Traveltimes for a specified set of links for a specified period of time (start/end time).

User Interface

Delivers a monitoring feature for the system to configure and ensure proper operation.

The user interface supports the following features:

  • View configured BluFAX units (possibly configure)
  • View configured Links (possibly configure)
  • View recent detections for a selected BluFAX unit
  • View recent traversals (per link)
  • View Recent Travel Time calculations (per link, per interval)
  • View Link travel times graph (scatter plot of traversals and travel time calculations)
  • View average travel times, speeds and traversal counts per hour, per link.
